Brief Summary: The story is set in an alternate Victorian London where mechanical creatures called mechanimals exist. The protagonist, Lily, is a young girl whose father, a famous inventor, has disappeared. Lily is determined to find her father and uncover the secrets behind his disappearance. She is joined on her quest by her friends Robert and Malkin, a mechanical fox.

How It Was: I thought the book was very interesting, I liked that Malkin, Lily and Robert all used their individual skills like Malkin's agility and speed. I think that the Silver-eyed men were nice by not having killed Robert when he was outside in the dark early in the morning.

Conclusion: The ending is bittersweet, as Lily must come to terms with the loss of her father. She also realizes the importance of her friendship with Robert and Malkin, who have become her chosen family.
